Apolo3 team prepare to launch! |

|
We are delighted to announce that Pyramid are to sponsor Apolo3, a team of local adventurers who are taking part in the gruelling Mongol Rally event.
Natalie Atkins, Mick Jones and Carl Avery will set off from London on July 19th 2008 in an 11 year old, 1 litre VW Polo with the aim of travelling totally unaided across Europe and to arrive in Ulan Bator in Mongolia.
"What's the point?" you may ask. Well, not only does the Mongol Rally raise a lot of money for various charities, it also offers up a chance for people to get out of their comfort zones. In fact, the organisers of the rally actively encourage entrants to travel the journey in vehicles that are as clapped out as possible. The idea is to create a very real challenge that forces the teams to get from A to B relying on their wits alone.
The car must be 1 litre or less (the crappier the better!), you can only take basic tools (small hand tools, gaffer tape and rope for example) to repair your car when it breaks down, and there are no support teams to help when you get lost or stranded. You can read more about the rally at
http://mongolrally.theadventurists.com.
Last year the Mongol Rally raised just over £200,000 for various charities, so this year we here at Pyramid are doing our own little bit to help raise awareness of the event. Part of this has been the design of an Apolo3 logo, a website and a series of promo posters. Please visit the Apolo3 website and donate towards the cause.
Good luck to Apolo3 and everybody involved in the Mongol Rally! |
